Amongst the finest watchmakers in the world, there are few better arenas to demonstrate ones horological talents than timepieces of the highest complexity. As such, Lange & Sohne produced the Saxonia Langematik Perpetual as their entrant into the world of high-end perpetual calendar timepieces. First debuting in 2001, just a short seven years after their relaunch in 1994, the Saxonia Langematik Perpetual achieved its desired purpose in putting Lange on the map of high-end watchmakers, a position that have since retained. Offered across an array of metals throughout its history, our example is the white gold variant, the ref. 310.026, which was offered from 2014 until 2017 and features the Saxonia Langematik Perpetuals three-piece case construction. Measuring 38.5mm in diameter, its shows an alternating blend of brushed and polished surfaces across its entire construction and features screwed-on lugs, which add to its intriguingly Lange design language. Further highlighting this sense of rich design, the Saxonia Langematik Perpetual features a stepped black dial that is unreservedly Lange in its execution, with the German watchmakers signature Outsize date display at 12 oclock alongside applied Roman numerals and an information-dense trio of subdials that only hint at the complexity of the automatic micro-rotor cal.
